I dissect stories like a surgeon with a poet’s hands—probing the emotional marrow, not just the bones. My reviews prioritize thematic resonance, psychological authenticity, and prose that feels before it explains. I’ll ask why the rain in your story smells like regret, or how the silence between lovers becomes its own character. Technical critiques (pacing, grammar) come only if requested—I’m here to unravel why your story haunts, not just how it functions. |
Minimalist. Focus on technical. I also look at how a work would fit into the traditional publishing landscape. I don't use a template. Warning: I am Australian, and so cultural differences may apply. |
I'm honest when I review thing I'll say what's on my mind but at the same time I try to stay positive and will always tell you what you did right but this means in no way am I a professional reviewer so take my reviews with a grin of salt please |
I look for how well the story or poem flows and if there are things out of place. I also check for grammar and spelling errors. |
My opinion will rely heavily on content, character and story arc, and reflect anything that catches my eye...purely from a readers standpoint. |
I tend to be constructive, though I've been known to be a bit too nice...at least, in my opinion. note that while I'll review anything requested, they can be a bit sloppy if I don't take interest. |
I will give the kind of review that I wish people gave me: rather detailed with emphasis on areas that need growth and areas that are pretty good already. And I'll review pretty much anything, whether a poem or an entire novel or anything in between. Admittedly, though, I do tend to be absent-minded, so it does happen that you might have to resend me the review request, but I promise I'll get around to it eventually. |
I tend to try and be fairly succinct, I have a deep love for verbose and interesting language, taking large preference to poetry. If you want some critique or suggestion on such, I'd be happy to help! |
My reviewing style varies. I may do a little edit if possible or pinpoint what I think is incorrect. My review is merely base on what I feel about your piece. If I enjoy it, I say it. If not, I tell you why I'm not.
I often do reviews on all Poetry Items- regardless of the genres, styles and the way it was written. However if you like, you can request a short story, chapter not the entire book or novel, articles and essays, etc.

Hi! ![]() |
Disclaimer: I am not good at remembering to do requested reviews. Often I have busy things going on with work and my own novels, so sorry if I decline or don't remember to do a review in the short time given. Just a warning. When I review: Long. Depending on the type of story and reason for review I tend to get anywhere from 4,000 characters to on the rare occasion over 10,000. I will make overall comments, technical points and even offer sources when necessary but a lot is dependent on what I'm reviewing. I can even do a full edit but that's take a lot of niceness and time. |
I don't know what my style is, but I point out what sticks out at me. |
Casual for the most part. I will point out errors I see and offer suggested corrections. I like to focus on the content and formatting of the item. I love providing helpful comments and feedback that may improve the item if acted on. |
I always add both positive and constructive comments to all of my reviews. I'm fast and thorough, and I fulfill any and all specifications in the review request. I'm willing to review ANYTHING without a bias, or judgements on the nature of a piece of work. Please send me an email to my offsite email as well as sending a request because I forget to check here as often. I will get to your request if you send me an offsite email at jayfeather1998@gmail.com. If you contact me with a reminder that you sent me a request I'll get right on it!!! |
Generally long winded... I tend to hone in on aspects of a story that I feel the author underdeveloped and then encourage them to enhance them. My style is a bit chaotic, as I jump from element to element depending on how large they loom in my mind. I may one day employ a template,to cover plot, theme, characters, settings, etc.. but for now I just comment on the parts of the story I feel compelled to address. Because my own spelling and grammar is atrocious, I leave those suggestions to your spellcheck and the more technical reviewers kind enough to visit your work. |
I will say what I liked about your piece and if I have any suggestions for improvement. My reviews are usually short, sweet and to the point. I prefer to review short stories but will look at poetry if asked to. |
I try my best to read everything on Writing.com with great care. My reviews always include a first impression, my feelings about theme and structure and where appropriate, some thoughts about possible revisions.![]() |
